We have received an increase of about $11,000 in revenue compared to a very weak 2007, and are very grateful. We have reduced expenses by about $45,000 compared to last year, which results in a surplus rather than a deficit for the quarter. However, the Finance Committee is keenly aware of the economic conditions affecting everyone in our community. In normal years we receive significant gifts in November and December as people do their year-end planning and contributions. We do not assume that our congregation will be able to do so this year. We are therefore watching income and expenses very carefully. Each week the Church Administrator prepares a detailed report of income from all sources for the Senior Pastor and Chair of Finance. In this way we hope to catch negative trends and address them promptly.
