Traveling Missions at Coronado
Our mission outreach offers many opportunities to serve both locally and globally.

 Click here to visit our separate website to learn about present and past mission trips to other countries.

Coronado has an active Traveling Mission ministry. Since 1998, we have sent 37 teams to 12 countries and 8 states with over 400 participants. Coronado Mission Teams have included:

     (1) Medical Teams, comprised primarily of healthcare professionals, who have performed lifesaving surgeries and provided mental and dental care for many people who have no access to regular medical care;

     (2) Construction Teams, comprised of people of all skill levels, who have built new homes, worked in emergency relief, participated in home rehabilitation, and worked on the construction of schools, churches and playgrounds;

     (3) Educational Teams, comprised primarily of youth (middle school and high school), who have learned about the cultures, religions and lives of diverse groups within the U.S.;

    (4) Service Teams at the UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) Depot at Sager Brown, LA, who worked packing relief supplies to be used around the world, rehabilitated local homes, and worked in various Sager Brown workshops.

Our most recent mission teams have been:

     (1) Mississippi Construction Team to rebuild homes in Waveland, MS, a small town which was devastated by Hurricane Katrina (see June-July Coronado Chronicle for story);

     (2) Senior High - College Mission Trip to New York City for a UMC-UN seminar on the Middle East. The team studied, visited with Israeli representatives, attended a service at a mosque and met with the imam, and visited a Palestinian Lutheran congregation;

     (3) Middle School Mission Trip to Miami DOOR, a ministry which introduces youth to inner-city life and challenges them to see the face of God in the city. The team worked in a variety of mission opportunities in the greater Miami area.

     (4) Guatemala Construction Mission Team worked on the construction of a pre-school at Salud  y Paz, a Methodist dental-health mission which we support. Read their reports on the mission website listed below.
